As frontline sentinels of our children’s health, vigilant parents and educators frequently encounter the systemic manifestations of this digital dependency. To address this urgent epidemiological shift, we will dissect the neurobiological and psychosocial mechanisms underpinning compulsive digital engagement by providing attendees with an advanced understanding of how prolonged exposure to algorithmic reward systems impacts the developing adolescent brain.\n\nIn this week’s episode, we will also examine the specific neurocognitive underpinnings of technology dependence by focusing on the dopaminergic pathways that mediate reward-seeking behavior and habituation in pediatric cohorts. We will explore the clinical correlations between excessive screen saturation and prevalent co-morbidities, including sleep architecture disruption, altered cortisol dynamics, metabolic shifts due to sedentary behaviors, and heightened vulnerabilities to affective disorders such as anxiety and depression. Bridging the gap between rigorous clinical data and actionable community interventions is important for us to understand the refined screening frameworks that can be used to identify early markers of digital dependence during routine consultations, while non-clinical attendees will acquire practical toolkits to foster digital hygiene and cognitive resilience within the home environment.\n\nOur speaker is Dr. Wilfredo Romasanta Santos, who is the current President of the Philippine Pediatric Society. Join us in this essential scientific discourse as we collaborate across disciplines to safeguard the developmental trajectories and holistic well-being of the next generation.\n
