Ethics 1 Guest Lectures: “Asian Ethical Frameworks”

INVITATION FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF HISTORY AND PHILOSOPHY AND THE COLLEGE OF SOCIAL SCIENCES

The Philosophy Discipline is pleased to invite the public to join this semester’s Ethics 1 Guest Lectures with the theme “Asian Ethical Frameworks”. The two lectures will be held on May 10, Monday, 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM.

In keeping with one of the important commitments of Ethics 1 as a UP System GE, i.e., to “locate the sources of moral experience within culture, society, religion, and individual experiences,” we will be hearing lectures from two esteemed philosophers in the Philippines:
Ms. Christine Abigail Tan, PhD (cand.) will talk about “The Cultured Man as the Noble Man: Jun zi 君子 as a Man of Li 禮 in Lun yu 論,” while Prof. Jacklyn Cleofas, PhD will talk about “Towards a Practical and Empirically Grounded Account of Utang-na-loob as a Filipino Virtue”.

The lectures are funded by the College of Social Sciences, University of the Philippines Baguio.

Current UP Baguio Ethics 1 students will please register through the links provided by their respective professors.
