Webinar #99

"ISA PA NGA: Kailangan ba talaga ng 2nd COVID-19 Booster?”

Three weeks ago, the Secretary of Health approved the recommendation of the Health Technology Assessment Council (HTAC) to give a fourth dose (or second booster) of the COVID-19 vaccines AstraZeneca, Sinovac, Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, and Sinopharm to the immunocompromised population for ages 18 years old and above. These individuals are those who have been receiving cancer treatment or those receiving immunosuppressants, and also those with advanced or untreated HIV infection, among others.

Recently, clamors from the healthcare workers sector as well as from senior citizens, and overseas foreign workers have spurred the discussion to expand the giving of the 4th dose to these cohorts. In fact, in countries such as Israel, the rollout of the 4th dose has been rolled out several weeks ago. However, the recommendation for the Philippine government is to enhance the coverage of the primary series doses across the priority groups.

In this episode of Stop COVID Deaths, two leading experts in immunology will discuss the latest on COVID-19 booster doses and the rapidly evolving evidence surrounding these. Dr. Marysia Recto will discuss the Clinical Evidence for recommending the 2nd booster dose for the different populations, while Dr. Jenifer Otadoy-Agustin will talk about the immunologic side effects with a review of Adverse Events following Immunization in the Philippines. Synthesis and Closing Remarks will be delivered by Dr. Stella Marie L. Jose, Deputy Director for Health Operations of the UP Philippine General Hospital.

Join us as we learn about COVID-19 booster doses and how important these are for the eligible population. See you online!
