SUMMARY:“AI ayayay! A conversation on Teaching and ChatGPT”
DESCRIPTION:WHAT IS ChatGPT? You may have encountered it but not sure exactly what it means\, pertains to\, and how it could potentially affect you as a member of the academe.\n\nWe are pleased to invite you to this timely discussion on ChatGPT\, an online artificial intelligence chatbot. The Office for the Advancement of Teaching is holding\, “AI ayayay! A conversation on Teaching and ChatGPT”\, on February 13 (Monday)\, 9-11AM.\n\nThe format will be an online roundtable discussion where a moderator will pose key questions to invited discussants and gather insights from the audience. The goal is to come up with a collective response to ChatGPT instead of leaving our faculty to deal with the matter individually. The event is free of charge and open to the public.\n\nThe online discussion will be held on Zoom. Interested participants can register here: http://bit.ly/AIchatGPT.\n\nPANELISTS:\nVPAA Cynthia Bautista\nVCAA Tess Payongayong\nDr. Rex Jalao (Director of UPD’s Artificial Intelligence Program\nDr. Bomen Guillermo (Professor\, Center for International Studies)\n\n—-\n\nAs the new semester commences\, both faculty members and students are faced with the challenge of how to navigate the potential disruptions that ChatGPT\, an online artificial intelligence chatbot\, may cause in higher education. Social media posts and think pieces have raised concerns regarding its ethicality\, the threats it poses to authentic assessment\, and the burdens it may induce on teachers. Some\, on the other hand\, are excited with the possibilities of this tool. But what do we do with ChatGPT? Dapat nga ba itong katakutan? Dedmahin? Bigyan ng chance?\n\nIn the spirit of building communities of practice and kick-starting a university-wide conversation on ChatGPT’s perils and promises\, the Office for the Advancement of Teaching is holding\, “AI ayayay! A conversation on Teaching and ChatGPT”\, on February 13 (Monday)\, 9-11AM.\n\nZoom slots are limited but the event will also be streamed live on OAT’s Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/oat.upd) and YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/@officefortheadvancementoft3434).\n\nTogether\, we will try to answer questions like: What makes ChatGPT “intelligent?” Are we ready to face the consequences of this tool? How can we harness the power of ChatGPT in helping our students read\, think about\, and engage with class materials?\n\n——\n\nREGISTER AND JOIN US ON ZOOM LIVE! Or watch the live streaming too!\n\nSource: UP Clark Facebook
