DESCRIPTION:The University Archives\, UP Diliman and Strategic Communication\, Research and Marketing Section\, in partnership with the President’s Committee on Culture and the Arts (PCCA) and the UP Diliman OICA\, invites you to SP Lopez: The Radical President\, an exhibition of the Salvador P. Lopez Papers in commemoration of the UP Day of Remembrance.\n\nThe exhibit will be officially launched on 10 September 2024 (Tuesday) at 9:30 AM in the Environmental and Energy Engineering Building lobby.\n\nThis exhibit aims to bring to the public the life and accomplishments of the former UP President. One of the most famous images of SP Lopez was him rallying with students on the steps of AS Hall against the presence of military in the campus. DESCRIPTION:Have fun learning all about dog training and disaster preparedness with the UPMV K9 Corps!\n\nEstablished in 2017\, the University of the Philippines –Metro Manila Development Authority – UP Vanguard\, Inc. (UPMV) K9 Corps is a non-profit partnership aimed at training local communities and their pets in basic search-and-rescue and disaster response. To date\, there are already close to a hundred volunteers and K9s in the program\, with Batch 11 already in training.\n\nThis year\, we’re celebrating seven years of resilience and community spirit with “Aso ni Juan: Getting Ready for the Big One! Presents BARK-kada!”\, a four-week festival of fun and games aimed at helping everyone get ready for the unexpected with our family\, friends – and\, of course\, our fur babies – by our side.\n\nIt’s a whole month of bonding\, learning\, and playing\, all aimed at getting us all ready for anything that may come our way. Bolata\nUP Department of History\n\n===\n\n“Pero maraming nanonood ng sine?” “Ah\, huo\, lalo na kung Pernandu [Fernando Poe\, Jr.]\, luwas ang pulo dyan!” Ganito inilarawan sa isang panayam ang resepsyon sa pelikula nang magbukas ang sinehan sa Gasan\, Marinduque noong dekada ’60. Bilang pagtatangka na bumuo ng kasaysayang pampook at panlipunan ng pelikula\, gayundin ng “teyoryang pampelikula mula sa ibaba\,” ilalahad sa papel na ito ang panimulang kasaysayan at kultura ng sine sa Gasan\, isang bayan sa islang lalawigan ng Marinduque\, mula dekada ’60 hanggang ’70.\n\nGamit ang mga panayam mula 2019 hanggang 2023 bilang primaryang batis\, may dalawang bahagi ang papel. Una\, isasalaysay ang kasaysayan ng sine sa Gasan: kabilang dito ang pagsibol at paghina ng mga sinehan\, ang proseso ng eksibisyon at promosyon ng mga pelikula sa isla\, ang buhay at kalagayan ng mga manggagawa ng sinehan\, at ang mga panlipunan at ekonomikong kondisyon na nagsisilbing salalayan ng kultura ng panonood ng pelikula.\n\nIkalawa\, maghahapag ng preliminaryong pagmumuni tungkol sa pampelikulang resepsyon ng mga taga-Gasan\, na mahigpit na kaugnay ng maituturing nating “estetikang bayan” (folk aesthetics). Sa halip na maglunoy sa nakasanayang pagdiskurso sa “larang ng maganda” gamit ang kritisismong pampelikula ng mga akulturadong elit sa mga pambansang sentro\, susubukang tuklasin ang estetikang bayang pampelikula ng Gasan sa pamamagitan ng paghahanap ng magkakatagni’t magkakatulad na elemento sa iba pang nakagisnang anyong pansining sa pulo\, tulad ng panitikan at dulaan.\n\nSource: UP CSSP Folklore Studies Program Facebook
