DESCRIPTION:CALL FOR PARTICIPANTS FOR THE 4TH RUN OF THE TaLAS COURSE 1: BUILDING A TEACHING EFFECTIVENESS PROGRAM\n\nThe UP Diliman Office for the Advancement of Teaching under the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs (OAT-OVCAA) in partnership with Habi Education Lab\, is going to conduct the fourth run of the workshop called Teaching and Learning Activities for SUCs (TaLAS) Course 1: Building a Teaching Effectiveness Program at UP Diliman on November 18-19\, 2024 at the UP College of Law\, University of the Philippines Diliman.\n\nThe workshop is free of charge; however\, slots are limited\, hence we can only accommodate 50 participants on a first-come\, first-served basis. Interested participants should register on or before October 30\, 2024 (Wednesday) via this link: bit.ly/talas2024\n\nABOUT THE WORKSHOP:\n\nThe Teaching Effectiveness Course (TEC) of the OAT-OVCAA\, is one of its flagship programs offered to facilitate intensive training on effective teaching. The TEC is designed to assist teachers in enhancing pedagogical knowledge and instructional design before the academic year starts.\n\nThe workshop is aimed at training participants on how to design instructional support programs for teachers and manage training processes in their respective universities. After the workshop\, participants will get to:\n\n(1) Share resources on teaching effectiveness with SUCs and UPD OAT;\n(2) Have peer consultations within SUCs in the region;\nForge partnerships and academic linkages with other SUCs and UPD OAT; and\n(3) Keep connected with various universities.\nThis year’s run serves as the culmination of Course 1 before we develop and roll out the Course 2 across the country. The webinar\, titled “Creating Space for Gender Narrative in AI and Mechanization in Philippine Agriculture 4.0\,” will take place on Monday\, November 18\, 2024.\n\nAgriculture 4.0\, as a national development priority\, raises important questions about inclusivity\, gender equity\, and equality (e.g.\, agricultural tools designed by men with men in mind). DESCRIPTION:Last April\, the UP Diliman Department of Philosophy brought you the UPD-Cambridge Lecture Series. We are back and bigger than ever before!\nThe department cordially invites everyone to attend the UPD-Oxford Philosophy Lecture Series to be hosted online via Zoom on November 9\, 18\, and 23\, 2024 from 4 PM to 6 PM on all days. Renowned philosophers from the University of Oxford will be sharing their expertise on novel and exciting topics.\n\nOn Saturday\, November 9\, Prof. Julia Weckend\, PhD will be speaking on “Can AI-Driven Machines Think and Feel?”\, a lecture on the latest research in metaphysics and the philosophy of mind.\n\nOn Monday\, November 18\, Prof. Stephen Law\, DPhil (Oxon.) will be speaking on “The Evil God Challenge”\, a lecture on a famous thought experiment in the philosophy of religion.\n\nOn Saturday\, November 23\, Prof. Doug Bamford\, PhD will be speaking on “Rawls and Nozick on Justice and Taxation”\, a classic debate in political and moral philosophy that continues to be relevant in our current social environment.\n\nEach lecture will be followed by a Q&A session which will give attendees an opportunity to share their own insights and raise their own questions about the lectures. The event is open to the public\, but UP Diliman philosophy graduate and undergraduate students will receive prioritized slots should the registration cap be exceeded.
