SUMMARY:UP Vargas Museum Family Day
DESCRIPTION:Family Day at the UP Vargas Museum happens this Saturday!\n\nRegister to join\, bit.ly/UPVMFamilyDay.\n\nThe UP Vargas Museum invites families with children aged 6 to 10 years old to join us for a Family Day event on Saturday\, 9 August 2025\, from 9:30 AM to 12 NN. Family Day at the Vargas Museum will bring children closer to nature with activities including gardening and zine-making. Teacher and illustrator Patti Ramos will join us during the art activity sessions.\n\nWe encourage everyone to wear comfortable clothing and to bring their tumblers or water bottles.\n\nThe UP Vargas Museum Family Day is the culminating activity for our “Art as Pedagogy: Neighborhoods and shared resources” project. “Art as Pedagogy: Neighborhoods and shared resources” is part of the UP Diliman Arts and Culture Festival 2025. Aligned with this year’s theme\, “Kalahok sa Nagbabagong Kalikasan\,” the project aims to develop expanded pedagogical materials that weave art practices\, sustainability\, and the museum’s social practice project\, which is our ongoing Gardens and Homesteads initiative. It positions art institutions like the museum as a site for gathering and sharing. It also foregrounds education as the core thrust of the Vargas Museum alongside curation and research.\n\n“Art as Pedagogy: Neighborhoods and shared resources” is part of the Arts and Culture Festival organized by the UP Diliman Office for Initiatives in Culture and the Arts (UP Diliman OICA). It is an umbrella project for the second phase of the Southeast Asia Neighborhoods Network (SEANNET) for its Manila case study.\n\nSource: UP Vargas Museum Facebook

NICOLE MARELLA G. TAN\nConsultant\, Department of Dermatology\nUP – Philippine General Hospital\n\nReactor:\nDR. VAL CONSTANTINE S. CUA\nConsultant\, Department of Dermatology\nUP – Philippine General Hospital\n\n———————————————————–\n\nWebinar #257\nSeptember 26\, 2025 (Friday)\, 12:00 noon\nWound You Look at That?\nApproach to Wound Care: From Assessment to Treatment\n\nIn an era of unprecedented challenges and medical advancements\, the landscape of wound management has evolved beyond conventional practices. The modern paradigm demands a comprehensive\, evidence-based approach to the complex etiology and pathophysiology of cutaneous and subcutaneous injuries.\n\nIn this week’s episode\, we will begin with a meticulous review of contemporary wound assessment methodologies\, which highlights the critical role of accurate differential diagnosis and risk stratification. We will dissect the nuances of the various phases of wound healing and the factors that impede them by providing a scientific framework for developing individualized treatment protocols. We will then transition to a robust discussion on advanced treatment modalities\, including both conservative and surgical debridement techniques\, the judicious application of state-of-the-art biological dressings\, and the growing utility of adjunctive therapies. Our expert panel of speakers will share their invaluable insights and clinical experience to help ensure that all attendees are equipped with the knowledge to manage a spectrum of wound types\, from acute traumatic injuries to recalcitrant chronic ulcers and diabetic foot syndromes.\n\nWe have two (2) main speakers today\, both of which are consultants at the Department of Dermatology of the UP – Philippine General Hospital: Dr. Nicole Marella G. Tan and Dr. Val Constantine S. Cua. They will underscore the significance of a holistic\, patient-centric approach to care by recognizing that optimal outcomes are achieved through a multidisciplinary lens. They will also help bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application by providing actionable strategies for integrating these advancements into daily practice\, whether in a hospital setting or in community-based care.\n\nJoin us to understand how we can all contribute to enhancing health outcomes and mitigating the considerable morbidity associated with poorly managed wounds across the archipelago.\n\nTogether\, we can stop preventable deaths!
