SUMMARY:UP Vargas Museum Family Day
DESCRIPTION:Family Day at the UP Vargas Museum happens this Saturday!\n\nRegister to join\, bit.ly/UPVMFamilyDay.\n\nThe UP Vargas Museum invites families with children aged 6 to 10 years old to join us for a Family Day event on Saturday\, 9 August 2025\, from 9:30 AM to 12 NN. Family Day at the Vargas Museum will bring children closer to nature with activities including gardening and zine-making. Teacher and illustrator Patti Ramos will join us during the art activity sessions.\n\nWe encourage everyone to wear comfortable clothing and to bring their tumblers or water bottles.\n\nThe UP Vargas Museum Family Day is the culminating activity for our “Art as Pedagogy: Neighborhoods and shared resources” project. “Art as Pedagogy: Neighborhoods and shared resources” is part of the UP Diliman Arts and Culture Festival 2025. Aligned with this year’s theme\, “Kalahok sa Nagbabagong Kalikasan\,” the project aims to develop expanded pedagogical materials that weave art practices\, sustainability\, and the museum’s social practice project\, which is our ongoing Gardens and Homesteads initiative. It positions art institutions like the museum as a site for gathering and sharing. It also foregrounds education as the core thrust of the Vargas Museum alongside curation and research.\n\n“Art as Pedagogy: Neighborhoods and shared resources” is part of the Arts and Culture Festival organized by the UP Diliman Office for Initiatives in Culture and the Arts (UP Diliman OICA). It is an umbrella project for the second phase of the Southeast Asia Neighborhoods Network (SEANNET) for its Manila case study.\n\nSource: UP Vargas Museum Facebook

SUMMARY:Health UPdates Webinar #258 "Social Egg Freezing: Mga Dapat Malaman"
DESCRIPTION:The University of the Philippines\,\nin partnership with the UP Manila – National Institutes of Health\,\nand in cooperation with UP Philippine General Hospital and UP College of Medicine\,\nwould like to invite you to attend this webinar! \n  \nRegistration slots are limited to this HEALTH UPDATES webinar\nSo sign up NOW:\nbit.ly/HealthUpdatesWebinar258 \n  \nWebinar #258\nOctober 3\, 2025 (Friday)\, 12:00 noon\nSocial Egg Freezing: Mga Dapat Malaman\n\nPresenter:\nDR. LANA CORRINE Q. TAN-CARPIO\nConsultant\, Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility\nDepartment of Obstetrics & Gynecology\nAsian Hospital and Medical Center\n\nReactor:\nDR. INA S. IRABON\nAssociate Editor\, Philippine Journal of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility\nConsultant\, Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology\nAsian Hospital and Medical Center\n\n———————————————————–\n\nWebinar #258\nOctober 3\, 2025 (Friday)\, 12:00 noon\nSocial Egg Freezing: Mga Dapat Malaman\n\nThe intersection of modern demographic trends\, professional advancement\, and the immutable biology of age-related fertility decline has positioned elective oocyte cryopreservation\, commonly referred to as social egg freezing\, as a critical frontier in preventative reproductive medicine. This imperative procedure\, which leverages ultra-rapid vitrification protocols to preserve oocyte viability\, is increasingly sought by individuals proactively managing their reproductive timelines. The burgeoning utilization of this Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) in the Philippines necessitates a rigorous\, evidence-based review for all tiers of the healthcare community and the informed lay public.\n\nIn this week’s episode\, we will discuss the latest clinical\, procedural\, and ethico-legal developments\, including current pharmacological stimulation protocols\, nuanced metrics of success such as age-stratified live birth rates (LBRs) and utilization kinetics\, and how to critically assess the risk-benefit profile associated with the procedure. We will also examine the evolving regulatory environment\, the complexities of providing comprehensive informed consent in a culturally sensitive context\, and the ethical dialogues surrounding reproductive autonomy\, access\, and equity in the Philippine setting.\n\nOur main speaker is Dr. Lana Corrine Q. Tan-Carpio\, who is a consultant from the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the Asian Hospital and Medical Center. Reacting to her talk is Dr. Ina S. Irabon\, who is also a consultant of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Asian Hospital and Medical Center. She also serves as Associate Editor of the Philippine Journal of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility.\n\nJoin us on how to become a responsible steward of reproductive information and patient support. Let us all work together and commit to advancing responsible reproductive healthcare across the Philippines.
