SUMMARY:UP Vargas Museum Family Day
DESCRIPTION:Family Day at the UP Vargas Museum happens this Saturday!\n\nRegister to join\, bit.ly/UPVMFamilyDay.\n\nThe UP Vargas Museum invites families with children aged 6 to 10 years old to join us for a Family Day event on Saturday\, 9 August 2025\, from 9:30 AM to 12 NN. Family Day at the Vargas Museum will bring children closer to nature with activities including gardening and zine-making. Teacher and illustrator Patti Ramos will join us during the art activity sessions.\n\nWe encourage everyone to wear comfortable clothing and to bring their tumblers or water bottles.\n\nThe UP Vargas Museum Family Day is the culminating activity for our “Art as Pedagogy: Neighborhoods and shared resources” project. “Art as Pedagogy: Neighborhoods and shared resources” is part of the UP Diliman Arts and Culture Festival 2025. Aligned with this year’s theme\, “Kalahok sa Nagbabagong Kalikasan\,” the project aims to develop expanded pedagogical materials that weave art practices\, sustainability\, and the museum’s social practice project\, which is our ongoing Gardens and Homesteads initiative. It positions art institutions like the museum as a site for gathering and sharing. It also foregrounds education as the core thrust of the Vargas Museum alongside curation and research.\n\n“Art as Pedagogy: Neighborhoods and shared resources” is part of the Arts and Culture Festival organized by the UP Diliman Office for Initiatives in Culture and the Arts (UP Diliman OICA). It is an umbrella project for the second phase of the Southeast Asia Neighborhoods Network (SEANNET) for its Manila case study.\n\nSource: UP Vargas Museum Facebook

EDMUND E. VILLAROMAN\nChairperson\, Thoracic Surgery and Anesthesia Department\nLung Center of the Philippines\nHead of the Thoracic Section\, Institute of Pulmonary Medicine\nSt. Luke’s Medical Center\nDirector\, Philippine Board of Thoracic Cardiac and Vascular Surgery\nFounding Member\, Southeast Asian Thoracic Society\n\nReactor:\nDR. JOVEN ROQUE V. GONONG\nPulmonologist and Chief\,\nSection of Interventional Pulmonology and Bronchology\nLung Center of the Philippines\n\n———————————————————–\n\nWebinar #259\nOctober 10\, 2025 (Friday)\, 12:00 noon\nLung Nodule Management: High Tech Na!\n\nThe escalating prevalence of high-resolution\, cross-sectional imaging modalities within the Philippine healthcare system has resulted in an increasing frequency of incidentally discovered pulmonary parenchymal findings\, often presenting as small\, non-calcified\, and clinically indeterminate sub-centimeter lung nodules. These findings pose a critical diagnostic challenge\, thus creating significant anxiety for patients and necessitating a precise\, evidence-based management strategy for all healthcare providers involved in the continuum of care.\n\nIn this week’s episode\, we will provide a comprehensive and practical framework for the multidisciplinary assessment and management of these lesions by translating complex global guidelines into actionable local protocols. We will systematically review the contemporary approach to risk stratification by detailing the critical clinical and radiological parameters that distinguish benign lesions from those requiring urgent intervention or meticulous surveillance. We will discuss the proper use of established prediction models and the interpretation of suspicious morphologic features and growth kinetics\, which are crucial steps that empower the frontline medical professional in determining the appropriate patient pathway. In addition\, we will discuss the role of advanced diagnostic techniques\, including percutaneous needle aspiration and navigational bronchoscopy\, and the indications for definitive surgical resection\, ensuring that all participants understand the complete progression from detection to therapeutic decision-making.\n\nOur main speaker is Dr. Edmund E. Villaroman\, who is the Chairperson of the Thoracic Surgery and Anesthesia Department at the Lung Center of the Philippines and who is also the Head of the Thoracic Section of the Institute of Pulmonary Medicine at St. Luke’s Medical Center. He also serves as Director of the Philippine Board of Thoracic Cardiac and Vascular Surgery and a Founding Member of the Southeast Asian Thoracic Society. Our reactor today is Dr. Joven Roque V. Gonong\, who is a practicing pulmonologist and is the Chief of the Section of Interventional Pulmonology and Bronchology at the Lung Center of the Philippines.\n\nJoin us as we try to elevate the quality of pulmonary nodule care\, minimize unnecessary invasive procedures\, and ensure the timely diagnosis of malignancy so we can improve long-term outcomes for patients across the Philippines. Together\, we can stop preventable deaths!
