SUMMARY:Notes for Tomorrow Exhibit
DESCRIPTION:Notes for Tomorrow\nIn collaboration with Independent Curators International (ICI)\n\n16 December 2025 to 07 March 2026\nUP Vargas Museum 1/F Galleries\nExhibition preview on 16 December 2025\, 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM\nat the UP Vargas Museum\, West Wing Gallery\n\n‘Notes for Tomorrow’ features artworks from around the world brought together in 2020 to reflect on a new global reality ushered in by the COVID-19 pandemic. Coming out of a moment where collective crisis had to be managed through collective care\, Independent Curators International (ICI) turned to 30 curators from 25 countries to consider the issues that have come to the fore in the pandemic’s aftermath\, asking each of them to share one artwork that they believe is vital to be seen today.\n\nThe UP Vargas Museum hosts the exhibition’s first iteration in Southeast Asia\, opening on 16 December 2025\, bringing together works across various geographies\, narratives\, and disciplines that stray from the colonial canon. The selected artists present works that question monumentality and seek the wisdom of localities. In this necessary moment of cultural transition\, each work acts as a source of inspiration from the recent past toward new futures. Rather than proposing a single path forward\, the artworks in Notes for Tomorrow present a network of overlapping solutions.\n\n___\n\nArtists of ‘Notes for Tomorrow’: Madiha Aijaz\, Ernesto Bautista\, Maeve Brennan\, Vajiko Chachkhiani\, Luke Luokun Cheng\, A Liberated Library for Education\, Inspiration\, and Action\, Nothando Chiwanga\, Shezad Dawood\, Demian DinéYazhi’\, Cao Guimarães\, Ilana Harris-Babou\, Rei Hayama\, Amrita Hepi\, INVASORIX\, Tamás Kaszás\, Ali Kazma\, David Lozano\, Mona Marzouk\, Joiri Minaya\, Peter Morin\, Omehen\, Daniela Ortiz\, Kristina Kay Robinson\, Luiz Roque\, Mark Salvatus\, Ibrahima Thiam\, u/n multitude\, Wayne Kaumualii Westlake\, and Yan Shi\n\nSource: UP Vargas Museum Facebook

SUMMARY:Health Updates Webinar #271 Warning sa Paggamit ng Antibiotics sa UTI at Ubo!
DESCRIPTION:The University of the Philippines\,\nin partnership with the UP Manila – National Institutes of Health\,\nand in cooperation with UP Philippine General Hospital and UP College of Medicine\,\nwould like to invite you to attend this webinar! \n  \nRegistration slots are limited to this HEALTH UPDATES webinar\nSo sign up NOW:\nbit.ly/HealthUpdatesWebinar271 \n  \nWebinar #271\nJanuary 30\, 2025 (Friday)\, 12:00 noon\nWarning sa Paggamit ng Antibiotics sa UTI at Ubo!\n\nPresenter:\nDR. SYBIL LIZANNE R. BRAVO\nClinical Associate Professor\, Division of OB-GYN Infectious Diseases\nDepartment of Obstetrics and Gynecology\nUP College of Medicine and UP – Philippine General Hospital\n\n———————————————————–\n\nWebinar #271\nJanuary 30\, 2025 (Friday)\, 12:00 noon\nWarning sa Paggamit ng Antibiotics sa UTI at Ubo!\n\nIn an era defined by the rapid evolution of pathogen resistance\, the clinical efficacy of our antimicrobial armamentarium is facing an unprecedented challenge. As we navigate the complexities of modern medicine in 2026\, the Philippines continues to grapple with the profound implications of irrational antibiotic use. This is a phenomenon that transcends simple clinical error to become a systemic public health crisis. The indiscriminate prescription of broad-spectrum agents\, coupled with patient-driven self-medication and sub-optimal adherence\, has accelerated the selection of multidrug-resistant organisms\, thereby compromising the very foundation of infectious disease management.\n\nIn this week’s episode\, we will discuss a high-level synthesis of the latest updates in antimicrobial stewardship\, specifically tailored to the Philippine context. This session will move beyond theoretical discourse to address the granular realities of irrational prescriptions\, particularly within the sensitive domains of maternal and reproductive health\, where the stakes of therapeutic failure involve two lives simultaneously. Attendees will gain a nuanced understanding of the Philippine National Action Plan on Antimicrobial Resistance (2024–2028)\, alongside actionable insights into the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine’s latest surveillance data\, which highlights the rising prevalence of resistance in pathogens such as Escherichia coli and Neisseria gonorrhoeae.\n\nOur main speaker is Dr. Sybil Lizanne R. Bravo\, who is a Clinical Associate Professor from the Division of OB-GYN Infectious Diseases\, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology\, UP College of Medicine and UP – Philippine General Hospital. We will also discuss how we should align our clinical practices with evidence-based guidelines and the World Health Organization’s AWaRe framework so that we can collectively mitigate the socio-economic burden of prolonged hospitalizations and escalating healthcare costs.\n\nJoin us in reaffirming our commitment to preserving the miracle of antibiotics for future generations. Together\, we can stop preventable deaths!
