DESCRIPTION:SINE MAESTRA: WOMEN’S MASTERCLASSES 2026\n\nThe University of the Philippines Film Institute (UPFI) proudly presents SINE MAESTRA: WOMEN’S MASTERCLASSES 2026\, now in its 7th year.\nIn celebration of Women’s Month\, Sine Maestra returns this March with a curated series of face-to-face masterclasses led by women filmmakers\, held at UPFI Cine Adarna and the UPFI Film Center\, University of the Philippines Diliman.\n\nEach masterclass offers a comprehensive lecture\, hands-on activities\, and an interactive Q&A session\, designed to give participants a grounded and practical understanding of film practice and creative processes. An additional masterclass will be announced soon.\nSine Maestra is open to the public on a first-come\, first-served basis.\n\nFilm Directing Masterclass\nwith Sari Dalena\n1:00–4:00 PM\nMarch 28\, 2026\nVideotheque\, UPFI Film Center\n\nSari Dalena is an independent Filipino filmmaker and educator. She holds an MFA in Film Production from New York University and has received numerous distinctions\, including the Fulbright-Hayes Scholarship\, New York Asian Cultural Council Fellowship\, NYU Tisch School of the Arts Graduate Fellowship\, and the 13 Artists Award from the Cultural Center of the Philippines. She is a Professor and former Director of the UP Film Institute.\n\nHer debut feature Rigodon won Best Feature at the International Panorama of Independent Filmmakers. Her documentary Memories of a Forgotten War (2001)\, which examines atrocities during the Philippine-American War\, screened at MoMA Documentary Fortnight and the International Film Festival Rotterdam.\n\nIn 2012\, her Martial Law drama Ka Oryang received Best Picture and Best Director at Cinema One Originals.
