SUMMARY:Health Updates Webinar #280 Kailangan ba magkasakit para matulungan ng PhilHealth? Understanding YAKAP
DESCRIPTION:The University of the Philippines\,\nin partnership with the UP Manila – National Institutes of Health\,\nand in cooperation with UP Philippine General Hospital and UP College of Medicine\,\nwould like to invite you to attend this webinar! \n  \nRegistration slots are limited to this HEALTH UPDATES webinar\nSo sign up NOW:\nbit.ly/HealthUpdatesWebinar280 \n  \nWebinar #280\nApril 10\, 2026 (Friday)\, 12:00 noon\nKailangan Ba Magkasakit Para Matulungan ng PhilHealth?\nUnderstanding YAKAP\n\nPresenter:\nDr. Edwin M. Mercado\nPresident and CEO\nPhilippine Health Insurance Corporation\n\n———————————————————–\n\nWebinar #280\nApril 9\, 2026 (Friday)\, 12:00 noon\nKailangan Ba Magkasakit Para Matulungan ng PhilHealth?\nUnderstanding YAKAP\n\nThe paradigm of modern medicine is currently navigating a pivotal transition from a reactive\, curative-focused framework toward a proactive\, preventive health ecosystem. For decades\, the Philippine healthcare landscape has predominantly functioned under a “break-fix” model\, where clinical intervention occurs primarily at the manifestation of acute pathology. However\, to achieve sustainable Universal Health Care (UHC) and mitigate the burgeoning burden of non-communicable diseases (NCDs)\, a systemic realignment is imperative.\n\nCentral to this transformation is the “Yaman ng Kalusugan Program\,” more colloquially recognized as the YAKAP Program. This initiative represents a sophisticated evolution in health financing and service delivery\, moving beyond simple inpatient subsidies to a comprehensive primary care benefit package. In integrating predictive health surveillance and early diagnostic interventions\, the YAKAP Program seeks to institutionalize preventive behavior at the grassroots level. In this week’s webinar\, we will discuss how this program utilizes clinical pathways and risk-stratification to identify vulnerabilities before they escalate into high-acuity\, high-cost medical emergencies. The discourse will further dissect the intricacies of health systems strengthening by emphasizing the role of digital health integration and the longitudinal monitoring of patient outcomes.\n\nOur speaker is Dr. Edwin M. Mercado\, the President and CEO of the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation\, who will discuss insights into the shifting reimbursement landscapes and the professional responsibility to champion health literacy. Join us to gain a better understanding of how the YAKAP Program serves as the cornerstone of a resilient Philippine health system in order to ensure that every Filipino is not just insured against financial ruin\, but actively protected against physiological decline through evidence-based\, preventive care.
