“Raising Awareness on Sexual and Gender Minorities”

In a world marked by increasing diversity and inclusivity, the imperative to understand and support sexual and gender minorities has never been more evident. In this webinar, we hope to offer a holistic perspective on the unique healthcare needs, challenges, and disparities experienced by sexual and gender minorities. We aim to empower healthcare professionals and administrators with the knowledge and compassion necessary to provide care that is not only medically sound but also culturally competent and sensitive.

This week on STOP COVID DEATHS, our main speaker is Dr. Sherri Ann Suplido, who is the Chief of the Division of Sexual Health at the UP-PGH Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Our reactors are Dr. Mario R. Festin, who is Professor and Vice-Chair for Training of the same department, and Dr. Ame Lopez, who serves as the Chair of the Project on Sexual and Gender Minorities from the Philippine Obstetrical and Gynecological Society. The Synthesis and Closing Remarks will be delivered by Dr. Angela G. Sison-Aguilar, who is the Special Assistant to the Dean for External and International Linkages of the UP College of Medicine and Philippine General Hospital.

In this webinar, we will define fundamental terms and concepts, and illuminate the spectrum of sexual and gender identities. We will discuss the sobering realities of healthcare disparities within sexual and gender minority communities. By the end of this webinar, we hope the attendees are equipped with actionable strategies to deliver inclusive care, emphasizing the importance of creating safe and welcoming healthcare environments for all.
