About the RTDs

The RTDs will focus on how the country can improve the benefits to cost of investments in science, technology, and innovation (STI) for Filipinos and how we can further raise STI national capability in order to improve the country’s global standing. Besides former Secretary de la Peña, the other distinguished speakers are among those leading the charge on innovation-led development.

The Organizers

The Political Economy Program (PEP) of UP CIDS seeks to contribute to building the momentum for development policies and programs that promote domestic production, higher productivity, and the just distribution of development resources. It however also recognizes that such initiatives often fall by the wayside due to factors such as lack of resources and public awareness, policy gaps, vested interests, partisan politics, and the dominance of the free market orthodoxy in policy circles.

UP CIDS is the policy research unit of the University of the Philippines. It currently houses 16 Research Programs on various topics and policy areas, from education to development. View database and download 900+ policy papers for free.
