UP World Expert Lecture Series: “Depolarizing Politics: Preventing and Overcoming Pernicious Polarization”

The UPV Division of Social Sciences invites everyone to a UP World Expert Lecture Series event with Dr. Jennifer L. McCoy on 15 March, Friday, 10:00 to 11:30 a.m., at the Miagao Interactive Learning Center AVR, UP Visayas.
Dr. McCoy is Regent’s Professor of Political Science at the Georgia State University (USA) and a renowned Latin America and democracy specialist. In this lecture titled “Depolarizing Politics: Preventing and Overcoming Pernicious Polarization,” Professor McCoy will discuss her ongoing book project on how to prevent and overcome pernicious polarization. She will discuss the problem of political polarization in democracies around the world today. She draws on historical examples of successful interventions to identify lessons applicable to contemporary democracies.
