Webinar #190
May 3, 2024 (Friday) 12nn
“Glaucoma, Nakabubulag Ba?”
The Silent Thief of Sight

The Philippine healthcare system faces a significant challenge in the form of glaucoma, a leading cause of irreversible blindness. In this webinar, we will discuss how to effectively identify, diagnose, and manage glaucoma in Filipino patients.

How important are visual field test results? What is the role of advanced imaging techniques in glaucoma detection?

These are just some of the questions that our renowned glaucoma specialists will deliberate on. We will explore the distinct epidemiology of glaucoma in the Philippines, including the prevalence of primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) and primary angle-closure glaucoma (PACG) among our population. We will also discuss the intricacies of diagnosing glaucoma, emphasizing the importance of tonometry, gonioscopy, and optic nerve assessment.

Our main presenter is Dr. Gertrude Gwendale M. Baron-Reinoso, an active ophthalmology consultant from the Section of Glaucoma of several hospitals such as Asian Hospital and Medical Center, Medical Center Parañaque, and Las Piñas Doctors Hospital. Our reactor is Dr. Maria Margarita D. Lat-Luna, who is the current President of the Philippine Glaucoma Society.

By the end of this webinar, you will be better positioned to recognize high-risk individuals, conduct effective patient education, and be able to discuss treatment options for managing glaucoma.

Together, we can stop preventable deaths. So, join us and become a champion for sight!
