Webinar #192

Newborn Screening Program Updates:
Saving Babies During Disasters and Pandemics
The Newborn Screening Program (NBS) of the Philippines is a vital public health initiative, but disasters and pandemics can disrupt this critical service. In our webinar for this week, we will discuss strategies to maintain continuity of care, ensuring timely diagnosis and intervention for newborns with congenital disorders even in challenging circumstances such as public health emergencies. We will also take a peek into technological advancements that improve efficiency and accessibility of the NBS.
Our main presenter is National Scientist and Emeritus Professor Carmencita D. Padilla of the National Academy of Science and Technology and the UP Manila College of Medicine, respectively. Our reactor is Ms. Divina Barrameda, who is the mother of a baby saved from the early devastating effects of a metabolic disorder.
By the end of this webinar, you will be better positioned to identify and manage potential challenges in newborn screening, and also help contribute to improved clinical outcomes for newborns with congenital metabolic disorders.
Together, we can save babies and stop preventable deaths!
