ATTENTION | We cordially invite everyone to a webinar co-organized by the Office of Research, the Gender and Development (GAD) Unit, the Department of Humanities in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, and the Assistant to the Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs – Internationalization and Linkages, in collaboration with the DOST-PCAARRD GAD Office, the Socio-Economics Research Division, and Cavite State University (CvSU). The webinar, titled “Creating Space for Gender Narrative in AI and Mechanization in Philippine Agriculture 4.0,” will take place on Monday, November 18, 2024.
Agriculture 4.0, as a national development priority, raises important questions about inclusivity, gender equity, and equality (e.g., agricultural tools designed by men with men in mind). We have invited Dr. Thelma Paris, a retired Social Scientist-Gender Specialist and Senior Scientist II from the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) in Los Baños, Laguna, to deliver a presentation on this topic.
Additionally, Prof. King David J. Agreda, MIT, an expert in Gender and Development (GAD) and a current holder of various GAD-related positions at Cavite State University (CvSU-CCC), will deliver a lecture on “Applicable Gender Tools: AI and Mechanization Initiatives in Philippine Agriculture.”
