In the evolving landscape of women’s health, concerns surrounding vulvovaginal health, including symptoms such as vaginal dryness, laxity, and diminished libido, represent significant yet frequently unaddressed challenges impacting millions of women globally. These physiological changes are often precipitated by natural aging processes, parity, and hormonal fluctuations, particularly during perimenopause and menopause. These changes can profoundly affect a woman’s comfort, confidence, and overall quality of life, including sexual well-being.

In this week’s episode, we will discuss the multifaceted realm of vaginal rejuvenation procedures, exploring a spectrum of therapeutic modalities designed to mitigate these common concerns. Our distinguished panel of speakers will meticulously elucidate the scientific underpinnings and clinical applications of various interventions. We will discuss non-surgical approaches, such as energy-based devices utilizing laser and radiofrequency technologies to stimulate neocollagenesis and tissue remodeling, as well as topical pharmacological agents aimed at restoring mucosal integrity and lubrication. Moreover, we will provide insightful perspectives on surgical interventions, including vaginoplasty and labiaplasty, that detail their anatomical corrective capabilities and patient selection criteria.

This week, our main presenter is Dr. Annebelle D. Aherrera, who is a past Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Makati Medical Center. She is a women’s wellness advocate and a practicing OB-GYN specialist for aesthetic and pediatric adolescents. Our reactor is Dr. Ricardo M. Manalastas, who is Professor 12 from the UP-PGH Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
