Webinar #256
September 19, 2025 (Friday), 12:00 noon
Maagang Pag-Lingap:
A Patient-Centered Approach to Endometriosis
In the dynamic and evolving landscape of women’s health, endometriosis remains a profoundly challenging and often debilitating chronic inflammatory condition, with a significant public health impact in the Philippines. While its pathophysiology has been studied extensively, conventional approaches to diagnosis and management have historically focused on symptomatic relief, often overlooking the patient’s holistic journey and enduring psychosocial burdens. The paradigm shift towards a truly patient-centered care model necessitates a re-evaluation of current practices, emphasizing shared decision-making, early diagnosis, and a multidisciplinary, collaborative framework.
In this week’s episode, we will discuss contemporary insights into the non-invasive diagnostic modalities and advanced therapeutic strategies for endometriosis, moving beyond the traditional surgical-first approach. Our panel of experts will provide a comprehensive overview of the disease’s natural history — from symptom onset to long-term sequelae, with a particular focus on the unique challenges faced by Filipino women. We will discuss the imperative for a coordinated care model by highlighting everyone’s crucial role in initial patient-provider encounters, symptom recognition, and accurate referral pathways. Furthermore, we will explore the integration of adjunct therapies and psychosocial support mechanisms, which underscore that optimal outcomes are measured not solely by the eradication of lesions but by a significant improvement in the patient’s long-term quality of life.
Our main speaker is Dr. Judith S. Galang-Perez, who is the Head of the Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Unit at the Perpetual Help Medical Center – Las Piñas. She is also a consultant of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Asian Hospital and Medical Center, as well as at the Las Piñas General Hospital and Satellite Trauma Center. Reacting to her talk is Dr. Ina S. Irabon, who is also a consultant of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Asian Hospital and Medical Center.
Join us so we can learn how to elevate the standard of care for endometriosis patients in the Philippines. And together, we can stop preventable deaths.
