UP Population Institute Brown Bag Session: Is it Race or Racism that is a Social Determinant of Health? A case study of the Filipino worker in Canada

The UP Population Institute will feature Dr. Sachil Singh of York University, Canada, for next month’s brown bag session. His study answers the crucial question: Is it Race or Racism that is a Social Determinant of Health?
Using a case study of Filipino workers in Canada, Dr. Singh will demonstrate that race is not a social determinant of health (SDoH). Rather, he asserts that social conditions (including racism and racial discrimination) are the true SDoH, not race itself.
