Binalot Talks: “Designing a Museum Together: Participatory Approaches for the Bataraza Cultural Center”

How can archaeological and heritage exhibitions become spaces for dialogue, collaboration, and community participation?

“Designing a Museum Together: Participatory Approaches for the Bataraza Cultural Center” presents the ongoing co-creation of a new exhibition for the Bataraza Cultural Center (Palawan), developed through a collaboration between local stakeholders, researchers, students, and partner institutions from the Philippines and abroad. It brings together scholars, students, and a Doctor in Communication who is also an artist, coming from four continents, offering diverse perspectives and connections to different schools of thought.

Participants will be invited to take part in one of the participatory workshops currently being used in Bataraza to shape the exhibition’s content and narrative. This hands-on activity will provide an opportunity to experience the co-creation process firsthand and reflect on the opportunities and challenges of participatory museology and community archaeology.
