In the Season and Space of Memory

Some memories stay. Some fade. And some find their way back through art.

This October, the UPLB Office for Initiatives in Culture and the Arts (OICA) presents In the Season and Space of Memory, an exhibition by Constancio C. de Guzman, a former UPLB professor from the College of Agriculture and Food Science.

Through his paintings, de Guzman reflects on the places, moments, people, and experiences that remain with us long after they have passed. From gardens and familiar places to the traces left by things and people we have lost, his works explore memory as something we carry, cultivate, and preserve.

For the UPLB OICA, exhibitions such as this are part of its continuing work to conserve and promote Philippine culture and the arts, while creating spaces where creative works can be encountered, appreciated, and shared with the UPLB community and its publics. Through the Sining Makiling Gallery, the University becomes not only a venue for art, but also a space where stories, experiences, and memories can remain visible. And perhaps there is something fitting about having this exhibition return to a University that has also been part of the artist’s own story.
