Webinar #129
December 9, 2022
“NGAYONG PASKO MAGING AKTIBO:  Galaw, Sayaw, Hataw!”

Season’s greetings to all! As the holidays are fast approaching, we take time to pause and think about how we can be COVID-safe, active and healthy during the holiday season.

Physical activity is very important for staying healthy. Physical activity is not limited to exercising in a gym, but more about moving constantly and keeping fit. The World Health Organization defines physical activity as: “any bodily movement produced by skeletal muscles that requires energy expenditure. Physical activity refers to all movement including during leisure time, for transport to get to and from places, or as part of a person’s work. Both moderate- and vigorous-intensity physical activity improve health.”

Physical activity improves overall wellbeing and contributes to the prevention of cardiovascular disease, cancer and diabetes. It also reduces symptoms of depression and anxiety and enhances mental capacity: thinking and learning. However 80% of the world’s population is considered physically inactive.

Let us enjoy the holiday season with friends and family in a safe way, and in an active way!

For this episode of STOP COVID DEATHS, Undersecretary the Department of Health, Dr. Enrique A. Tayag will lead the discussion on being physically active and will demonstrate some “hataw” moves, while UP Philippine General Hospital Director Dr. Gerardo “Gap” Legaspi will share his personal journey in staying active and how it has helped him in his work. Dr. Dione P. Sacdalan, Coordinator for Training with the Office of Deputy Director for Hospital Operations at the UP Philippine General Hospital will deliver the Synthesis and Closing Remarks.

Keep abreast with staying healthy and active during the holidays with our experts in your credible on-line community at STOP C.O.V.I.D. DEATHS.
