7th International Conference on Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences (7th ICFAS)

3 Keynote, 9 plenary speakers to grace 7th ICFAS

We are thrilled to present the keynote and plenary speakers for the upcoming 7th International Conference on Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences (7th ICFAS) to be held on October 18-20, 2023 at Grand Xing Hotel, Iloilo City.

Gracing this year’s ICFAS as Keynote Speakers are Senator Loren Legarda, Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Representative in the Philippines Dr. Lionel Dabbadie, and Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) National Director Atty. Demosthenes Escoto.

The Plenary Speakers include:
• Mr. Nygiel Armada, Chief of Party, USAID Fish Right Program;
• Dr. Yu-Wei Chang, Professor, National Taiwan Ocean University;
• Dr. Nikita Gopal, Founding Member and Chair, Gender in Aquaculture and Fisheries Section, Asian Fisheries Society;
• Dr. Sayaka Ito, Deputy Chief, Southeast Asian Fisheries

Development Center –Aquaculture Department (SEAFDEC-AQD);
• Prof. Kyoko Kusabe, Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand;
• Dr. Cynthia Saloma, Professor, University of the Philippines Diliman;
• Academician Mudjekeewis Santos, Scientist IV, National Fisheries Research and Development Institute;
• Dr. Zhizhong Qi, Professor, Ocean University of China; and
• Dr. Tau Liu, Professor, Xiamen University, China

With the theme, Fisheries for the Future, 7th ICFAS is expected to gather hundreds of participants from the academe, civil society, government and non-government organizations to discuss the crucial role of the fisheries sector in the global community on the future of food given the rapidly growing world population.

The international conference is hosted by the College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences, UP Visayas.
