Marking the 86th birth anniversary of Regal Films’ late matriarch Mother Lily Yu-Monteverde, this program re-examines the pito-pito production model she championed in the late 90s—long criticized for its austerity yet influential in shaping the conditions of Filipino film production.

2:00 PM
🗣️ Talk by: Gershom C. Chua, film scholar and lecturer at UPFI and Ateneo, who will unpack the industry, aesthetic, and cultural implications of Mother Lily’s legacy.
🎞️ Screening: Raya Martin’s Long Live Philippine Cinema! (2009)

4:30 PM
🎞️ Screening: Mario O’Hara’s Babae sa Bubungang Lata (1998)

Join us for a conversation on the ambivalent place of pito-pito in the story of Philippine cinema’s revivals.

ATTENDANCE IS ON A FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED BASIS. LIMITED SEATING ONLY.
