“Depolarizing Politics: Preventing and Overcoming Pernicious Polarization”

The Department invites everyone to a UP World Expert Lecture Series event with Dr. Jennifer L. McCoy, Regent’s Professor of Political Science at the Georgia State University (USA) and a renowned Latin America and democracy specialist, on 13 March, Wednesday, 10 to 11:30 a.m., at the UP College of Law Malcolm Theater.

In this lecture titled “Depolarizing Politics: Preventing and Overcoming Pernicious Polarization,” Professor McCoy will discuss her ongoing book project on how to prevent and overcome pernicious polarization. She will discuss the problem of political polarization in democracies around the world today. She draws on historical examples of successful interventions to identify lessons applicable to contemporary democracies.
