Beyond the Surface: Discovering Freshwater Fungi through Systematics
Over the past decade, significant progress has been made in the taxonomic and phylogenetic classification of freshwater fungi. Morphological studies have been supplemented with molecular data, and the one fungus=one name rule has been adopted, leading to updates in the classification system. These advancements in fungal systematics are the result of the ongoing exploration of diverse habitats studying the taxonomy and diversity of freshwater fungi.
