Dugo sa Dumi: Almoranas? Kanser? Ano ang Dapat Gawin?
Updates on Gastrointestinal Bleeding

Gastrointestinal bleeding (GIB) remains a significant clinical challenge, presenting a complex array of etiologies and demanding prompt and accurate management. In this week’s episode, we will discuss the multifaceted aspects of GIB, from its underlying pathophysiology to the latest diagnostic and therapeutic strategies. Our esteemed speakers will offer invaluable insights into the evaluation and management of both upper and lower GIB.

We will learn more about the risk factors, clinical manifestations, and potential complications associated with GIB. We will explore the importance of a thorough history and physical examination, as well as the role of laboratory tests and endoscopic procedures in establishing a definitive diagnosis. We will also address the therapeutic options available for GIB, including endoscopic hemostasis, pharmacological interventions, and surgical management. In addition to the clinical aspects of GIB, we will explore the impact of this condition on patient outcomes and quality of life as we place an emphasis on early intervention and the role of supportive care in optimizing patient recovery.

Our main presenter is Dr. Ruter M. Maralit, while our reactor is Dr. Eric B. Yasay. Both are excellent gastroenterology consultants from the Department of Medicine, UP – Philippine General Hospital.

Together, let us learn how to effectively manage patients with GIB. So that together, we can stop preventable deaths.
