Webinar #219
November 29, 2024 (Friday) 12nn
Pangangamba at Takot sa mga Relasyon?
Attachment Styles and Mental Health Illness
The tapestry of adolescent and young adult mental health is often intricately woven with the threads of early life experiences. One such crucial thread is attachment style, a psychological construct that profoundly influences how individuals relate to themselves and others. In this week’s episode, we will discuss the intricate relationship between attachment styles and mental health outcomes in this critical developmental period.
Our esteemed panel of speaker-experts will unravel the complexities of attachment theory, exploring the four primary attachment styles: secure, anxious-preoccupied, dismissive-avoidant, and fearful-avoidant. We will learn how these styles develop and how they manifest in adolescent and young adult behavior. We will look into the far-reaching impact of attachment styles on various mental health conditions, including anxiety, depression, substance abuse, and relationship difficulties.
We will discuss the practical strategies for fostering healthy attachment relationships and promoting mental well-being in adolescents and young adults. These strategies may include therapeutic interventions, communication techniques, and supportive parenting practices.
Our main presenter is Dr. Constantine David Della, who is a past president of the Philippine Psychiatric Association and is the current head of the Division of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry at the UP-PGH Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine. Our reactor is Dr. Michael P. Sionzon, who is the chief resident from the same department.
Join us as we explore the power of attachment in shaping the mental health trajectories of our youth. By the end of the webinar, we hope the audience will be better equipped to recognize the signs of distress, provide compassionate support, and guide individuals toward a path of healing and resilience. So that together, we can stop preventable deaths!
