Vulvo-vaginal Conditions in the Pre-Pubertal Age Group
Vulvo-vaginal conditions in pre-pubertal girls are a common concern for parents and healthcare providers alike. While often benign, these conditions can cause significant discomfort and distress for young patients. In this week’s episode, we will discuss the complexities of these conditions, including the diverse range of vulvo-vaginal conditions that can affect pre-pubertal girls — from the most common, such as vulvovaginitis, to rarer disorders. We will also discuss the underlying causes, clinical manifestations, and diagnostic approaches for each condition.
Effective management strategies are crucial in addressing these concerns. We will dive into the evidence-based guidelines for both pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions. We will also emphasize the importance of a holistic approach, especially the need for patient education, reassurance, and supportive care. In addition, we hope to learn how to differentiate between benign conditions and more serious underlying problems, such as sexual abuse.
Our main presenter is Dr. Ryan B. Capitulo, who is a well-known pediatric gynecologist from the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center. Our reactor is Dr. Toni Andrea Marie Viloria, who is an obstetrics and gynecology consultant from the Philippine Children’s Medical Center and Asian Hospital & Medical Center.
Join us for this informative and insightful episode as we explore the intricate world of vulvo-vaginal conditions in the pre-pubertal age group. Together, we can improve the health and well-being of young girls and empower healthcare providers to deliver compassionate and evidence-based care.
