Webinar #229
March 7, 2025 (Friday), 12:00 noon
Bakit Kailangang Magpabakuna ng mga Buntis?
Ensuring Safety Among Pregnant Women

In an era where maternal and neonatal health remains paramount, the imperative for comprehensive vaccine education and implementation cannot be overstated. In this week’s webinar, we will address the critical need for a nuanced understanding of vaccine safety and efficacy, particularly within the context of physiological changes inherent to gestation.

Our esteemed panel of OB-GYN specialists will present the immunologic adaptations of pregnancy and the mechanisms by which maternal vaccination confers passive immunity to the neonate. Participants will gain a thorough understanding of the recommended vaccines, including influenza, Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis), and COVID-19 vaccines, with a focus on their respective immunogenicity and safety profiles. We will also address the evolving landscape of vaccine recommendations, incorporating recent clinical trials and epidemiological data.

Moreover, we will explore the nuances of vaccine hesitancy and strategies for effective patient communication. We will emphasize the importance of addressing common misconceptions and providing clear, concise information to empower pregnant individuals to make informed decisions regarding vaccination. Practical applications will be highlighted, including appropriate vaccine administration protocols, documentation, and strategies for managing potential adverse events.

Our main presenter is Dr. Maria Lorena L. Santos, who is the current President of POGS Northwestern Luzon Chapter and is the immediate past President of the Philippine Infectious Diseases Society for Obstetrics and Gynecology (PIDSOG). Our reactor is Dr. Florida F. Taladtad, who is a fellow of PIDSOG and an active consultant at the Jose B. Lingad Memorial General Hospital.

Join us as we learn how to optimize maternal and neonatal outcomes through the judicious and evidence-based application of vaccination, contributing to a healthier future for both mothers and their infants.
