KaSaMa Teachers Webinar: Ethnomathematics: Interplay of Mathematics and Culture

The session introduces the participants to ethnomathematics as a research program that investigates the interplay of mathematics and culture. It revisits ethnomathematics’ history, discusses the research motivations that propel its growth as a field, and provides some examples of the work that is being done in various parts of the world, including the Philippines. The session ends by showing that ethnomathematics could be a viable framework to guide efforts at providing culturally relevant mathematics instruction.
