In our upcoming webinar, Mathematics as Language, Tool, and a Way of Seeing, we will explore the powerful ideas behind the symbols of mathematics—ideas born from the curiosity and creativity of mathematicians who studied patterns out of sheer delight, independent of human experience.

Today, these same ideas help us predict weather and the ups and downs of the stock market, understand the behavior of birds in flight, design bridges and skyscrapers, and protect financial transactions done over the Internet. Mathematics is not just a subject we study in school; it is a powerful language and tool we use to understand and model social phenomena and the physical world.

Grounded in the principles of ethnomathematics, this session invites us to reflect on how cultural practices, traditions, and lived experiences shape the way we engage with mathematics. Participants will discover how mathematics is deeply rooted in our communities, and how recognizing this can lead to more inclusive, relevant, and empowering learning experiences for all.
