Kulay ug Kagaangan: A Science and Art Exhibit

September 12 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

The UP Marine Science Institute invites everyone to Kulay ug Kagaangan: a science and art exhibit featuring Mindanaoan and Visayan artists exploring our relationship as Filipinos to our marine heritage, and featuring insights of our scientists exploring the West Philippine Sea under the RE-INVEST WPS Program funded by DOST-PCAARRD.

The exhibit title is translated from Bisaya as “Color and Lightness.” Curator Gabi Nazareno writes: “What legacy are we leaving behind? What kind of relationship do we want from the sea? The ocean is not distant — it is part of us. Its colors are ours to preserve. Its lightness, ours to protect. Let this exhibition not be an ending, but a beginning — of remembering, of restoring, of choosing to care.”

Kulay ug Kagaangan is open to visitors at the New Marine Science Institute Building until September 30, 2025.

Visiting hours are 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM from Mondays to Fridays. Admission is free and open to the public.
