This year’s graduate colloquium explores and evaluates the role of English language studies in navigating and addressing real-world challenges and opportunities in the Philippines, particularly on language issues concerning policy debates, curriculum development, literature, and identity. The presentations critically examine the balance between meeting contemporary demands and preserving linguistic diversity, aiming to deepen our understanding of English’s evolving role in a culturally complex and historically layered Philippine context, with global implications.
