This event marks a significant milestone as we plan to institutionalize our own museum by showcasing hundreds of ethnographic items on traditional basketry from all over the Philippines. Through this exhibit, we aim to highlight the diversity of basket weaving traditions in the Philippines and celebrate the artistry and skill of Filipino basket weavers.
Don’t miss this opportunity to engage with esteemed scholars Dr. Carolyn Sobritchea, Dr. Mary Racelis, and Assistant Professor Felipe Jocano Jr. as they talk about the remarkable legacy of Dr. F. Landa Jocano, the visionary anthropologist behind the establishment of the Asian Center Ethnographic Collection in 1973. This colloquium will be followed by the official opening of the exhibit to the public.
