“Dinig Namin Kayo”
Promoting Greater Understanding of the Deaf Community in Accessing Communications

The National Cochlear Implant Program of the Philippines is a groundbreaking initiative that has not only revolutionized the lives of countless individuals within the Deaf community, but has also opened new avenues for communication and connection.

Our esteemed panel of experts will delve into the intricacies of the National Cochlear Implant Program, shedding light on its historical context, current initiatives, and future prospects. We will talk about how cochlear implants have emerged as a pivotal tool in bridging the communication gap, enabling individuals with hearing impairments to engage more fully in the world of spoken language. Another focus of the webinar will be the vital role of speech pathologists in this transformative process.

Our main presenters are Dr. Ma. Leah C. Tantoco, who is a consultant from the Department of Otorhinolaryngology of the UP-Philippine General Hospital and Coordinator for Audiology Services of the National Cochlear Implant Program, and Prof. Jaymilyn Catangay Ombao, who serves as the Coordinator for Speech Therapy Services of the National Cochlear Implant Program as well as faculty member of the College of Allied Medical Professions of the University of the Philippines Manila. Our reactor is Dr. Maria Rina T. Reyes-Quintos, who is the Chair of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology of the UP-Philippine General Hospital. Finally, the Synthesis and Closing Remarks will be delivered by Dr. Stella Marie L. Jose, who is the Head of the Office of Expanded Education and Training at the UP Philippine General Hospital.

As we collectively strive for a more inclusive and understanding society, this webinar serves as a platform to engage in meaningful dialogue, share experiences, and explore innovative strategies in promoting effective communication for the Deaf community. We invite educators, healthcare professionals, policymakers, and anyone passionate about fostering inclusivity to join us in this enriching conversation. Together, let us navigate the landscape of accessible communication and build a more connected world for all. Together, we can stop preventable deaths!
