January 7, 2023 @ 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

JOIN US IN AMPLIFYING THE VOICES AND CONCERNS OF INDIGENOUS PEOPLES VIA UP BAGUIO’S JAN. 7, 2023 ONLINE FORUM

The UP Baguio graduate students of M.S. in Conservation and Restoration Ecology under the College of Science and M.A. in Social and Development Studies and Ph.D. in Indigenous Studies under the College of Social Sciences invite you to a three-part online forum titled “Traditional Lifeways Amidst Contemporary Realities: A Graduate Student Symposium on Indigenous Resources Management” on January 7, 2023 via Zoom.

Session 1 will give us a glimpse on how our Indigenous Peoples sustainably utilize and manage the different ecosystem services they enjoy – from tourism, to farming, to food security.

Session 2 will introduce us to the different Indigenous Groups in Luzon and how they effectively manage their resources through traditional knowledge and practices. From the Ibalois to the Tandulanen Tagbanwas in Palawan, as well as the cultural communities of Ilocos Norte and the Cordilleras.

Session 3 will take us to Visayas and Mindanao as we get to know the conservation practices and ecological knowledge of the Mamanwas of Eastern Visayas, the Sama-Dilaut of Cebu, the Indigenous Peoples of Capiz, and the Manobos of Bukidnon and the Caraga Region.

Join us as we strive to conserve nature by looking back on our culture and put into spotlight our Indigenous Peoples – the frontliners to sustainable environmental and climate solutions.
