Last April, the UP Diliman Department of Philosophy brought you the UPD-Cambridge Lecture Series. We are back and bigger than ever before!
The department cordially invites everyone to attend the UPD-Oxford Philosophy Lecture Series to be hosted online via Zoom on November 9, 18, and 23, 2024 from 4 PM to 6 PM on all days. Renowned philosophers from the University of Oxford will be sharing their expertise on novel and exciting topics.
On Saturday, November 9, Prof. Julia Weckend, PhD will be speaking on “Can AI-Driven Machines Think and Feel?”, a lecture on the latest research in metaphysics and the philosophy of mind.
On Monday, November 18, Prof. Stephen Law, DPhil (Oxon.) will be speaking on “The Evil God Challenge”, a lecture on a famous thought experiment in the philosophy of religion.
On Saturday, November 23, Prof. Doug Bamford, PhD will be speaking on “Rawls and Nozick on Justice and Taxation”, a classic debate in political and moral philosophy that continues to be relevant in our current social environment.
Each lecture will be followed by a Q&A session which will give attendees an opportunity to share their own insights and raise their own questions about the lectures. The event is open to the public, but UP Diliman philosophy graduate and undergraduate students will receive prioritized slots should the registration cap be exceeded. The Zoom link will be sent via e-mail to registrants before the lecture series. For any questions or clarifications, please e-mail Asst. Prof. Enrique Benjamin R. Fernando III, MA at [email protected] or [email protected].
