UPOU National Women’s Month and International Women’s Day Celebration

March 6 @ 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm

The University of the Philippines-Open University continuously celebrates both National Women’s Month and International Women’s Day. The country proclaimed the whole month of March as the National Women’s Month (Proclamation No. 224 s. 1988) while March 8 has been proclaimed as the National Women’s Day (Proclamation No. 224 s. 1988), both through former President Corazon Aquino in March 1988.

UPOU through its Gender Focal Point System (GFPS) and the Office of Gender Concerns (OGC) has always been at the forefront of not only gender mainstreaming but also of innovative solutions to achieve progress, equality, and inclusivity within and outside of the university.

This year’s theme: UPOU working for Progress, Equality, and Inclusivity through Enhanced Community Engagement within Open and Distance e-learning; highlights the importance of investing in women’s empowerment, gender equality, and inclusivity that will hope to expedite and sustain progress in different aspects of society.

In line with this, an opening program will be conducted to kick off this year’s Women’s Month 2024 on March 6, 2024, from 4:00 to 5:30 pm at CCDL and via Zoom, YouTube, Facebook, and UPOU networks. Our resource speaker is Dr. Joane V. Serrano, the Dean of the Faculty of Management and Development Studies (FMDS). Everyone is welcome to attend this program. There’s a lot to look out for–forum, launching of activities, souvenirs, and free food!

For those non-UPOU employees who want to join via zoom, please scan the qr code on the image below or please click this link to register: https://forms.gle/3YEhibX7FW7rkbMy9

As the women’s month approaches, let us take this opportunity to inspire change, promote inclusivity, and empower all individuals to strive for a more just and equitable society. 💜

Other activities will be posted here on our official Facebook page and website.
