The UP Visayas community mourns the passing of one of its faculty members, Felino S. Garcia Jr., who was found lifeless inside his apartment in Pavia yesterday, 27 August 2022, at around 12:30 PM.
Initial reports state that he suffered from a kidney problem and has been undergoing regular dialysis for weeks now. Authorities are still investigating to ascertain the cause of death.
Throughout his productive teaching career, Garcia taught at UP Los Baños, UP Visayas in Iloilo, and UPV Tacloban College. He taught courses in History and his academic interests traversed such areas as Postcolonial Studies, Migration Studies, Anthropology, and Southeast Asian Studies.
Garcia was a well-loved book author and poet.
