The University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) University Library, through Ms. Analiza S. Galang-Linaugo, gratefully received donations amounting to Php 110,500.00 from distinguished alumni.
Dr. Constantino “Jun” Gulmatico Jr. contributed a steel bookshelf, while Mr. Zyrel Rojo, Mrs. Jhoanna Gorriceta-Rojo, and their family generously donated a steel bookshelf, two wooden bookshelves, a couch, pillows, stuffed toys, and other furnishings for the GAD-Integrated Area.
The GAD-Integrated Area, a child-minding facility, is a new section at the library. It is a space designed to foster love for reading and learning among the children of UPV employees.
These heartfelt contributions, motivated by a spirit of giving back, have greatly enhanced the library’s expanded spaces—providing a warm and welcoming environment for all patrons.
Dr. Gulmatico, a distinguished General Surgeon in Brooklyn, New York, has long extended his passion for knowledge beyond medicine. A charter member of the UP SILAK Brotherhood, he champions university libraries as the “lifeblood of innovation and learning,” empowering students and researchers to tackle society’s toughest challenges.
With his donation of a steel bookshelf, Dr. Gulmatico hopes to inspire others to invest in these vital institutions, ensuring future generations have the tools to succeed.
In honor of their late sister Bernadeth T. Rojo, who had a lifelong passion for books, the Rojo siblings have donated beautifully crafted bookshelves and other furnishings for the GAD-Integrated Area. This heartfelt gesture celebrates Bernadeth’s love of reading and belief in the power of libraries to inspire and educate. The bookshelves are a lasting tribute, offering students and visitors a space to discover stories, knowledge, and imagination. Through the gift, her memory will continue to enrich the lives of many.
The Rojo family has been a regular donor since 2018.
