Vision Screening 101: Pearls for Physicians
Myopia, commonly known as nearsightedness, is a growing public health concern, especially among children. As the prevalence of this eye condition continues to rise, it is imperative for healthcare professionals, parents, and caregivers alike to understand its implications and preventive measures.
In our final episode for 2024, we will discuss the intricacies of myopia by exploring its causes, risk factors, and potential complications. We will discuss myopia management, including evidence-based strategies to slow its progression. In addition, we will also discuss Republic Act No. 11358 or the Philippines’ National Vision Screening Law, which is a crucial legislation aimed at early detection and intervention of vision problems, including myopia. Our speakers will also share practical insights on how to implement vision screening programs in schools and how to work collaboratively with healthcare providers to ensure the optimal eye health of young learners.
Our main presenter is Dr. Jose Antonio T. Paulino, who is a pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus consultant from the Asian Hospital and Medical Center. Our reactor is A/Prof Tina Roisin Vinluan Lansangan, who is an assistant professor at the University of the Philippines Integrated School.
Join us as we learn how to identify, assess, and manage myopia, thus empowering you to make a positive impact on the eye health of the next generation. Together, let us protect our children’s vision.
