Jesry T. Palmares, an alumnus of UP Visayas, is the newly appointed Undersecretary of the Department Agrarian Reform for Foreign-Assisted and Special Projects.
Prior to his national appointment, he was the elected Vice Mayor of Passi City in the recently concluded May 9 elections. He has also served as Passi City Mayor for several terms.
Part of the responsibilities of his new office are grants and assistance from countries such Japan, Korea, Italy, England, and the World Bank directed towards agrarian reform areas. Programs and projects that are agriculture-related including bridges, water systems, and storage facilities that will augment the lives of the farmers in the countryside will be part of his responsibilities.
Palmares took his oath as undersecretary on July 8, 2022. He is also currently provincial chairman of the Lakas-CMD in Iloilo.
Palmares took his Bachelor of Arts in Community Development at the University of the Philippines Visayas and graduated in 1994.
